Fri 25 November

Ok... here I go, recording my food intake again! I've decided not to count points at all, but just document what I eat - hoping that this will regulate my intake (it's too embarrassing if I have to write that I ate an entire package of oreo cookies!!), but not affect my milk supply too much. So... here goes:

2 slices wholewheat toast
peanut butter
latte

1 flaxseed, zucchini & oatmeal muffin

3 slices french bread with cheese, pastrami, mushrooms & salsa
1 can coke

pasta with chicken, mushrooms, green beans & sweet potato (with olive oil & butter)
parmesan

juice

Ugh!

So... my 3 weeks of not counting points has done wonders for my milk supply (Baby A now only gets formula if I go out & leave her with Daddy), but it hasn't been so great for my weight : (

I've quickly bounced back up to 65kg, which was my mental "I'm not gonna let myself go back above that" weight when I stopped counting points last month. But with turkey day tomorrow... I think that might be impossible!

I was pretty good yesterday - I didn't count points, but I had smaller servings than usual & no treats; and I plan to do the same today. I'm gonna just eat want I want tomorrow (who can say no to turducken, pumpkin creme brûlée & bourbon bread pudding!!), and then start counting points again on Friday. But this time, I'm gonna try hard to make sure each point is nutritious, and I'm not gonna stress too much if I go over... the fact that I'm counting points at all makes me eat less, whether I stick to my daily limit or not.

So expect to see daily food logs again, starting Friday!

Happy Turkey Day everyone!!!

Chipotle Sweet Potato Soup

Super easy lunch for a cold & rainy autumn day!

Sauté 1 chopped onion & 1 clove crushed garlic in olive oil. Add 2-3 large sweet potatoes (chopped), 2 cans chicken broth, 1 can diced tomatoes, 1 can water & 2T chopped chipotle peppers (from a can, with adobo sauce). Simmer until potatoes are soft then blend with immersion blender. Add 1 can evaporated milk & you're ready to serve! I had some rotisserie chicken in the fridge so I just shredded & heated that & added it to the bowl along with some sourcream.

Mmmmmm!!!

Dwindling...

Hmmm... I've been counting ww points for almost a month now, and have lost almost 5kg (11lb).
However, my milk supply has dwindled to the point where I either need to nurse Baby A every hour during the evenings, or supplement with a bottle.
I'm not sure if it's the dieting, the stress of moving house, or that I'm probably not drinking enough water (or all of the above!), but I've decided to stop counting points for a week or so, to see if that helps. Plus I just don't have the time or energy to keep up my food log or calculate points while we're in the midst of moving.
I'll still try to eat fairly healthy, but am not going to limit my intake of healthy food, or worry about keeping track.
I may stall on my weight loss, but hopefully I won't gain back anything I've lost.
I'll re-visit on the 10th & see if it's time to start tracking again.
